High Frontiers is a new collection of essays revolving around science, space, art and the unknown. Previously disseminated and published through various means online, this edition is published by Publication Studio. Subjects covered range from submersibles to mycology, surrealism, cyborgs, machine learning, love, and art on the moon; includes interviews with Dr. Oliver Sacks, Trevor Paglen, and Ursula K. LeGuin, and a couple of weird poems, to be safe. 150 pages, silkscreened cover.

High Frontiers opened February 20th, 2013, with my performance Emotional Bandwidth Solutions. It was also the occasion for the release of High Frontiers, a new collection of essays published by Publication Studio.

Event presented by Actual Size Los Angeles and The Faustus Group, a curatorial corporation/nomadic rec-center founded by artist Sam Davis in 2010.

Science Fiction & What it Feels Like to (Already) Live in the Future was Faustus Group’s first West Coast event, and featured my lecture, Emotional Bandwidth Solutions, a lecture by Martine Syms addressing futurity in consumer capitalism, and FUNs by Paul Salveson, a sculpture involving a Kurzweil rack synthesizer that plays mathematically modulated sound out of a sculpted earpiece.

In tandem, also, a month of science fiction film programming; I selected and will introduce Kin Dza Dza! on January 31st, 2013.

“Five Artsy Things to Do This Week,” LA Weekly.

An early-morning reprise of the “Falling into the Sun” program of experimental films, originally curated for an event at Body Actualized Center in Bushwick, New York. This version was performed at dawn at The Cinefamily, Los Angeles’ premiere cinematheque, accompanied by yoga, a guided affirmation, and coffee. After the program, the audience walked outside as a group to watch the sun rise.

American Dreamers, a book of fifty-six essays by thinkers, artists, designers, inventors and entrepreneurs about the future. Includes contributions by Arianna Huffington, Stan Lee, John Hockenberry, Kurt Andersen, Chris Anderson. Includes an original essay by yours truly, Curiosity’s Shadow. Published by Sharp Stuff, a Wieden+Kennedy Tomorrow initiative that explores the boundaries of story building.
